What is an oil shedding coating?

Oil shedding coatings mean just that, they are good at shedding oil and typically contain high percentages of PTFE (Teflon). The faster oil flow will improve the overall engine lubrication especially under extreme pressure at high RPM which decreases the engine temperature. Typically, oil shedding coatings are applied to connecting rods as pictured here, crankshaft counterweights, oil pans, timing cover, underneath pistons, valve coves and other engine parts where oil isn’t needed. Essentially this coating allows those parts to shed oil faster which increases oil flow and the amount of available oil to critical engine parts that needs it increases.
